Maconnais introduction

To the south of the Côte Chalonnaise and the North of Beaujolais, Macon is well known for good value Chardonnay. Macon red are the only red wine from Burgundy made with Gamay as all the others are made with with Pinot noir (apart from few local exeptions). The white wines from Macon are well known for being affordable light, dry and pleasant, the red wines are famous for being light and very fruity.
